ECA History

ECA Marketing has roots dating back to 1985. Purchased and re-branded as ECA Marketing in 1997 by Elliott "Hap" Cobb, ECA Marketing is a National Annuity and Life Marketing Organization doing business in all 50 states and several U.S. territories. Since 2006, ECA Marketing has produced over $15 Billion in Fixed Annuity and Target Life Premium. ECA Marketing's Management currently sits on the Field Advisory Councils of six carriers and is one of the country’s largest Independent Marketing Organizations.

In 2006, ECA Marketing was acquired by National Financial Partners. The strategic acquisition of an independent Fixed Annuity specialist company was made to enhance Fixed Annuity delivery and scale for the NFP Member Firms and Membership Organizations.

NFP, a leading provider of benefitsinsurance and wealth management services, owns over 180 firms in 41 states and Puerto Rico. NFP's corporate focus is Life Insurance and Wealth Transfer, Corporate and Executive Benefits, and Financial Planning and Investment Advisory.

Our field trained marketing staff has extensive knowledge in case design helping producers and groups to present creative solutions to their clients. Unlike many of our competitors, our administrative staff will serve as your back office tracking your cases; saving you valuable time and money.

ECA is dedicated to giving superior service, as well as devoted to developing and attaining industry tools specifically designed to help our producers save time and effort by offering valuable insurance resources.

ECA will continue to develop software and compile resources to help drive and increase revenue. We will remain up-to-date with trends, product and sales tools in the life and annuity industry. We are dedicated to continuously developing resources to give our partners the competitive edge when determining the right solution for the right situation.

Joe Spillman

President

Joe Spillman

Joe Spillman became president of ECA Marketing in December 2011. He started as a marketing consultant in 1999. In 2006 he was appointed principal after joining ECA’s Partners Management Group. As part of the management group, Joe has become an integral part of direct marketing initiatives, product development, and operations. He has had an active role in mentoring the ECA Life and Annuity teams.

He specializes in product selection for complex estate and retirement plans and makes it his goal to design solutions that significantly increase the clients return on their investments. Joe has been a featured speaker at numerous industry and agent events throughout the country. He has addressed thousands of agents on positioning sales and marketing ideas. He also sits on the advisory council board for Old Mutual, the Great American Leadership Council, the ING Advisory Council, and participates on the NFP Life Brokerage Board.

Joe and his wife, Emily, have three children, Tylor, Cory, and Logan. In his spare time, Joe enjoys camping, playing basketball, and spending quality time with his family.
Stephanie Dahl

Stephanie Dahl

Stephanie Dahl, COO and Human Resources Manager, joined ECA Marketing in 1993 and is ECA's longest standing employee. Stephanie has served in almost every role at ECA and continues to use her vast knowledge to lead employees towards reaching ECA's goals. In recognition of her vital role at ECA Marketing Stephanie was promoted to COO in February 2013. Stephanie holds a BA in Mathematics and BS in Business Administration from Southwest Minnesota State University. Additionally she sits on the User Group Advisory Board with Agency Works/iPipeline, one of the top software providers of insurance and financial services.

Chief Executive Officer/Founder

Elliott "Hap" Cobb

Elliott "Hap" Cobb was a personal producer for 13 years selling fixed and variable annuities and life insurance prior to founding the company. Hap has been on various President Councils and has been involved with insurance carriers in the proprietary development of several annuity and life products.

Jean Cobb

Jean was a regional marketing representative at a ReliaStar company for fixed and variable annuities, life insurance products, and sales systems. Later she worked for First Bank System providing insurance sales training and the implementation of incentive programs at regional banks.
